Motivate and engage your teenaged online English learners through games and activities!

Two of the biggest struggles teachers face with teenaged online English students are keeping their attention and getting them to actively participate in class. ESL games and activities offer a solution to these challenges; however, many teachers are unsure how to choose games that strike the right balance between age-appropriate, fun, and educational. This course not only provides plenty of activities to engage adolescent students, but equips teachers with the knowledge of how and why these games are so effective.     

Learning Objectives
 

When you graduate, you’ll be able to:

• Discuss the pedagogy and research that support the use of online games and activities with adolescent students

• List the organizational steps and planning stages for online games and activities, such as how to map activities to a specific learning goal to ensure they are educationally sound and academically engaging

• Compare and contrast games and activities to use in a group or private online lesson setting with teenagers

• Find, create, and present effective digital games and activities for teenagers in the online classroom

• Investigate the use of digital resources as tools to create online activities for teenagers

• Discuss strategies for using games and activities to motivate adolescents in their online language lessons

Requirements to take this course:

 

• 18 years of age.

• An intermediate or higher level of English proficiency (B1 level, according to the CEFR, the Common European Framework Reference for Language).

• Teaching experience or a general TEFL/TESOL certificate (recommended).
