Optimize your personal well-being as an online English teacher!

Teaching online is flexible and convenient but can also have unforeseen effects on teachers’ physical and mental and health. Issues such as lack of workplace organization, incorrect desk posture, isolation, and a disrupted social life can take their toll, if unchecked. This course identifies the often-overlooked challenges online English teachers face and provides strategies to overcome them.    

Learning Objectives
 

When you graduate, you’ll be able to:

• Maintain optimal posture while spending hours at a desk to avoid the potential long-lasting damage of a largely sedentary job

• Engage in social connections and grow a virtual professional support network while teaching online, similar to traditional, in-person teacher interaction

• Articulate and apply best practices for handling instances of perceived abuse towards yourself or your students

• Recognize and adjust physical hazards in your at-home workspace or the workspace of your student(s)

• Navigate cultural differences and communication in the online environment

• Describe motivational strategies to employ while working alone in the online setting, sometimes without a direct supervisor

Requirements to take this course:

 

• 18 years of age.

• An intermediate or higher level of English proficiency (B1 level, according to the CEFR, the Common European Framework Reference for Language).

• Teaching experience or a general TEFL/TESOL certificate (recommended).
